Why did you want to become a pilot?

The thought of flying aeroplanes was not a natural dream for me. I wanted to join the Royal Navy and found out you could join as a pilot. I became hooked!

How did you fund your training?

My initial training costs were covered by the military.

Was training a breeze or did you find it a challenge?

The training certainly was not a breeze but with lots of hard work, together with many long hours ensured I kept passing each stage

What was most challenging?

Getting the break, getting started.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Love the freedom of the air, love the jets, love the people you work with. Love landing 60 T of screaming metal!

What is most challenging about your job?

Poor weather, strong gusty cross winds, long delays, unstable rosters.

Which of the Pilot Competencies are of most interest to you and why?

All of them, you need them all! If I had to pick just one then it would be FPM Manual. Ask me why.
