Why did you want to become a pilot?

It was my dream as a child, my Father loves aviation and he used to take me to his office at Heathrow which overlooked the runways. I was also very privileged to travel a lot with my parents when I was young and was invited to the flight deck on numerous occasions, this really inspired me. When I grew older as a passenger I used to look into the cockpit and think this is where I really want to be.

How did you fund your training?

Was training a breeze or did you find it a challenge?

It was a challenge trying to pass the ATPL exams and study for the aviation foundation degree at the same time.

What was most challenging?

Learning certain ATPL subjects and flying NDB approaches in a non-digital cockpit.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Being part of an overall bigger team ensuring people get to their destination safely and efficiently no matter the weather conditions. The people that I worked with were amazing and I felt part of a bigger aviation family. My highlight was landing regularly into Heathrow as this was always a dream of mine.

What is most challenging about your job?

Bad weather days and waking up at 3:20 on a freezing cold winter's morning.

Which of the Pilot Competencies are of most interest to you and why?

Leadership and Teamwork - an airline pilot is about acting as a part of an overall team, learning from others and implementing your own style of leadership skills. All of the pilot competencies are of interest to me whilst working on them to become a better pilot.

I volunteered at Aerobility helping people with various disabilities flying in a PA28 sim; I volunteered from home with Project Wingman – Frimley and Basingstoke Hospitals by scheduling and sourcing donations. I am currently studying an online degree in “Aviation Management for Professionals” with Bucks New University and volunteer to seat fill for Aspire Flight Training in the Dash 8 Q400 sim in Farnborough.
